…and were immensely impressed with the standard of drinks – both alcoholic and mocktail.
William Humphery of Bristol’s Hausbar won the right to represent the UK at the competition’s Paris-based international final at the Montparnasse Tower this month, stacked up against 26 other competitors from around the world.
James Coston, Monin UK brand ambassador told us: “It was an amazing competition, with plenty of innovation, flair and creativity on display… There were some truly delicious and fantastic-looking drinks produced.”
Maia Iljina from Estonia was declared the winner, impressing judges with her cocktail, La Vie en Rose – which featured Le Fruit de Monin Strawberry, Monin Peach Syrup, Monin Amaretto syrup, dry gin and cream – and her non-alcoholic Oasis, which included Le Fruit de Monin Strawberry, Le Fruit de Monin Passion Fruit, Perrier and basil leaves.

She wins a trip to London Cocktail Week in October next year.
William Humphery placed a respectable tenth out of 27 competitors.
His cocktail, Oliver’s Twist, comprised Martin Millers Gin, Kamm & Sons Ginseng Spirit, Monin Fig Syrup and Monin Creme De Cacao Blanc.
It was stirred in a Thermos flask then served in a cocktail glass garnished with a red rose infused with chocolate bitters.
