Earlier this year BarLifeUK interviewed Ali Reynolds about his role as global ambassador and head of advocacy for Stauning Whisky.

During that chat we got the impression that Stauning were planning to enter the cocktail competition scene in a big way, and sure enough, this week the Danish distiller unveiled the Stauning Drinks Kollektive, a huge international competition open to bartenders in the UK, Denmark, Germany, France, Australia, and parts of the USA.

Stauning Drinks Kollektive Format and Prize

To enter the Stauning Drinks Kollektive, bartenders are invited to create a cocktail that expresses or interprets one of the brand’s three founding pillars – design, sustainability, locality – with either Stauning HØST or RYE whiskies (RYE only for USA competitors).

The top 10 entries from each country will be invited to compete in a national final, with the eventual 6 national winners travelling to Denmark to be immersed in Danish cuisine, culture, and design, while taking part in the Global Final.

The Stauning Drinks Kollektive global winner will be awarded a whole cask of Stauning whisky, and given the opportunity to partner with the Stauning ambassador team around the globe to help advocate Stauning Whisky, a process that will culminate in becoming a judge at the 2025 finals as Stauning begins its mission to find the next Kollektive of bartenders.

How To Enter

Stauning have created a dedicated competition website which contains everything you need to know in order to create and submit your entry, including a recipe brief and more information on the three possible cocktail themes, along with dates and deadlines.

You can find the Stauning Drinks Kollektive website here.

This is a really exciting global addition to the cocktail competition space, working with some beautiful liquids made in a beautiful distillery, and BarLifeUK can’t wait to taste your drinks as we judge at the UK national final!
