Last month, Maverick Drinks announced the launch of That Boutique-y Rum Company (TBRC). Sitting alongside That Boutique-y Whisky and Gin Companies, TBRC comes to market with a range of rare or unusual rums from some of the world’s more obscure distilleries, aimed squarely at rum enthusiasts and exploratory bartenders.
TBRC use production method to delineate its range, with simple terms based on the Gargano Classification System employed to describe whether the liquid is the product of a column still or a pot still, made by a single or multiple distilleries. This approach has been adopted to counter the preconception that darker rum is necessarily older, and better.
