Everyone knows the heart of a great bar is a great bar team.
Yes, it’s all very well having a superstar bartender who wins all the comps and gets all the attention, but for a bar to be consistently great, and to consistently offer customers a memorable night, it needs a team of people who run like a well-oiled machine.
In the spirit of brotherhood, which is so important to the brand, Chivas Regal have created a competition that recognises this, and is also pleasingly open to interpretation, unlike many comps these days that may as well come with a rulebook.
The challenge is deceptively simple – create a cocktail using Chivas 12YO, then make it on film, displaying your bar’s team spirit.
Two elements to the competition then – design the drink, and figure out a way for the team to make it on camera that really puts the viewer ‘in your bar’, and demonstrates why your team, and bar, are great.
The prize on offer is stellar. The winning team will get £4,000 worth of bar equipment, something we’ve never seen before in many years of covering competitions. The team will also get to take over the Chivas pop-up bar at the Truman Brewery for a shift, and a night out on Chivas’ dime.
There is a quote on the Chivas Regal website, by master blender, Colin Scott. He says: “The best way to enjoy Chivas is with good friends.”
As you think about the best way to showcase your team, this quote is probably a good place to start. In fact the Chivas website should be your first port of call, as there is a lot of information to be found there, which will help you create your drink, and some of the Chivas Brothers’ backstory that wont go amiss either.

- Film your team making it (phone quality is fine; no longer than 4 minutes)
- Post your video to Facebook, with the hashtag: #CHIVASTEAMSPIRIT
