This Is Tea: October 14th – 16th 2022, Canopy Market, Kings Cross, London
Probably a weird way to start an article, but I imagine this event will smell really nice. ‘This Is Tea’ is a three day celebration of tea, taking place at Canopy Market in Kings Cross this October, organised in partnership with the European Speciality Tea Association and the Karma Tea Co.
The festival takes the familiar F&B show form – lots of stands showcasing various wares, along with panel discussions and masterclasses. You probably wont be able to score a mug of PG builders’ brew, This Is Tea is concerned with more adventurous varieties from independent and ethical brands like Mei Leaf, The Karma Tea Co., Postcard Teas, Curious Tea, Tregothnan, and Tea Rebellion. The festival is free if you want to mooch about and visit the stalls, while some of the masterclass sessions carry a charge of £12 a pop, which isn’t too bad compared to some other festivals.
The learning sessions cover subjects such as using tea in cocktails, matcha preparation, blending, and tea-chocolate matching. And, of course, sustainability.
