The Whisky Show: Old & Rare Details

On 29th Feb & 1st Mar The Whisky Show is holding its Old & Rare Show in London.

The Whisky Exchanges Whisky Show has become a staple on the bartender calendar over the last few years, for those of you who REALLY love your whisky and have a few quid knocking about the Old & Rare Show could well be for you. Here is the elevator pitch from them:

The Whisky Show: Old & Rare is a festival that celebrates the world of fine, rare and antique single malts and spirits. It offers attendees the chance to try unique, unrepeatable drams and to forge drinking experiences and memories to last a lifetime.

Having a look through the details on the show it certainly looks like a little slice of heaven for whisky lovers out there. Unlike a lot of similar exhibitions the exhibitors here are mainly made up of independent companies(whisky bars, shops, auctions etc) and collectors who are willing to open their prized possessions.

There are also Masterclasses being held with tutored tastings of some more rare and exclusive bottles.

Now then, for a show with such rare and old bottlings available you won’t be surprised to hear that it is not a free event. Tickets for either the Saturday or Sunday will set you back £75 each (update: Saturday sold out) – to be fair for this you do get lunch as well as a tasting glass.

What this £75 doesn’t get you however is any drams or entry to the Masterclasses. Now we have been told that drams will start at £1 each but I think it is fair to say the average price will be a fair bit higher than that. On the flip side this is your chance to try whisky that you (and few others) have ever tried before, so if you have the love and the bank balance to match it sounds like you certainly won’t be disappointed.

The Masterclasses start at £120, there is also shop on-site if you just can’t help yourself.

If you would like more information or to buy tickets head to their website here.

Details on the drams that will be available can be found here and masterclass details here.
