Tequila & Mezcal Fest Launches in London

It’s that time of year, LCW, BCB and RumFest are all behind us and there is nothing left to look forward to until the end of the crazy festive period… think again Tequila Fest is here.

For the first time the UK is getting it’s own dedicated opportunity to celebrate all things Tequila and everything about Mezcal over two days at the end of November.

You may think that November is a strange time to enjoy products from a country so associated with sunshine but we can’t think of a better way to dispel those winter blues. So we will be there with bells on at the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel on 22nd & 23rd November.

We will not however be there with our Sombrero on as these are banned at the show along with any form of lime & salt shot. This festival is all about helping to continue the education of the consumers in the ‘right’ way to enjoy tequila. It will be a sipping only environment.

The list of educational seminars are still being finalised but organiser Eduardo Gomez (whom many of you will know from his time at Amathus) has ensured us that the talks will be split up so some will appeal to consumers with other dedicated to the trade and aficionados.

There will also be food on offer celebrating the best of Mexican with some of the countries top Mexican restaurants getting involved. However as bartenders I’m sure it is the drinks side that is of more interest to you than the food, so let’s have a look at that.

The tequila section is already looking impressive however we will keep you updated as no doubt this list will continue to grow. So far you can expect to see -Altos Olmeca, ambar, Arette, Cabrito, Calle23, Centinela, Don Julio, Don Fulano, Herencia Mexicana, Cuervo, Ocho, Tapatio and Grillos.

Over at BarLifeUK we are big fans of Mezcal and the fact it has it’s room at the show to shine is a big pull for us. The line-up (which again will only get bigger) is already a great combination of some of our favourites combined with some we have yet to try. Check out Del Maguey, Alipus, Los Danzantes, Bruxo, Enmascarado, Lagrimas de Dolores (Durango), Marca Negra, Papadiablo, Pierde Almas, Quiquiriqui, Siete Misterios, Vago, Ilegal, Derrubes (Michoacan and Guerrero) Blue Demon.

There will also be a bar or two knocking out a few of your favourite tequila and mezcal cocktails.
