Next week Boutique Bar Show returns to London and the line up of free talks and features is as impressive as ever.
Last week we had a look at the new products that will be on show at Boutique Bar Show (BBS) on September 16th – 17th at The Grand Hall St Pancras. However there is more than excellent products to try at the show with a big line up of free educational sessions to help improve your skills.
At the bottom of the article is a timetable giving the full lineup and timings across the two days but first we take a look at some of the sessions that stand out for us.
Tuesday Highlights
12:45 – 13:30 How to use Social Media to grow your business with Warren Knight
This may not be an obvious one to get excited about but if you want your bar to make lot’s of money these days then good use of social media is vital. Warren Knight is an internationally renowned social media expert and winner of numerous industry awards so he should be able to help you out.
14:00 – 14:45 (also at 13:00 Wednesday) Discover True Rum with WIRSPA
WIRSPA have been holding a series of talks across the UK over the past few months and all the feedback we’ve heard has been superb. This is a bit of a condensed version but Amit Sood of Shaker UK will still have plenty of time to teach you all about Caribbean Rums.
15:15 – 16:15 Cocktail Trends: Shrubs – Slushies – Spritz & The Punch
If you put Gareth Evans (Blind Pig), Ali Reynolds (Hawksmoor), Giles Looker (Soulshakers) and Davide Segat (Edition Hotel) in one room you’ll get an entertain chat on anything. If they are tasked with sharing their thoughts on trendy cocktail styles you’ll also get a whole lot of information.
Wednesday Highlights
12:30 – 13:15 Distilling in your own bar
Jamie Baxter held this talk at the Manchester BBS earlier in the year and it was such a success he’s back in London with more. He’ll talk you through licensing, equipment possibilities and limitations and product ideas.
13:45 – 14:15 London Cocktail Week Presents: The History of the Aperitivo
If the Cocktail Trends session is likely to be Tuesdays most entertaining talk then Stuart Hudson (Forgotten Hospitality) and Jamie MacDonald (Martini) are lined up to be Wednesdays. It will not only be packed full of information and historical tidbits on the Aperitivo but also be hilarious.
15:00 – 16:00 The true story of the Negroni with Luca Picchi
Luca is flying over from Tuscany to share the knowledge he’s discovered with his recent work with the Count Negroni family. Sure to contain some unique insights into the background of a real bartenders favourite.
