Tales of the Cocktail 2021 Hybrid Event Programme Announced

Tales of the Cocktail: 20th – 23rd September, online and in-person, 2021

The organisers of Tales of the Cocktail, which kicks off next month in a mostly-digital-but-some-in-person format, have released the event programme for this year’s festival. The schedule includes some 60 educational sessions, seminars, and roundtable discussions across three education subjects – business, culture, ‘beyond the bar’, featuring over 250 industry speakers. The digital sessions are free, and can be accessed online of via new iOS and Android smartphone apps. Highlights from the programme, as picked by Tales, include:

  • Breaking Bias: Disrupting Unconscious Decisions That Lead to Unexpected Consequences, moderated by Tony Chatman
  • Digging for Peat: A Geeky Dive into the Production of Peated Scotch Whisky, moderated by Felipe Schrieberg
  • Psychological Mindfulness and Drinking, moderated by Hoorie Siddique
  • Texas: The Wild West of Whiskey, moderated by Nico Martin
  • The Mothers of Spirits: The Unwritten History of Women in the Industry, moderated by Jessamine McLellan
  • The Pioneers: How Non-Alcoholic Spirits are forging a new path through innovative channels, moderated by Justin Lew

Running in tandem with the livestreamed and on-demand digital content, a number of in-person events will take place. The majority appear to take place, understandably, in New Orleans, with some in other locations due to be added to the programme in the next few weeks – presumably dictated by local Covid conditions. On the subject of Covid, attendees of Tales events in New Orleans will need to be fully vaccinated, and the organisers have encouraged event-holders in other locations to make the same stipulation.
