Jay’s Virtual Pub Quiz Drinks Trust Episodes: 8:15pm on September 10th, 12th, 17th, 19th, 24th, and 26th
Host of Jay’s Virtual Pub Quiz, former publican Jay Flynn, used to run his quizzes the old fashioned way – in person, in his boozer. When the Covid-19 pandemic forced the pub to close, he decided to continue running the quiz for the pub’s regulars on Facebook. When Flynn scheduled the live stream, a wrongly-ticked options box allowed the general public to register for the show, and within days, 250,000 people had subscribed to the Facebook event.
Fast-forward a few months, and Jay’s Online Quiz is now one of the biggest on Youtube, with over 100 quizzes aired and over £700,000 raised for various charities. Throughout September 2020, industry charity the Drinks Trust, who continue to support hospitality workers affected by coronavirus, is the channel’s charity of the month, with quizzes taking place on Thursday and Sunday nights, beginning this week.
