Survey of Bar Industry Employee and Employer Outlook During Covid-19

Help us create a picture of the UK bar industry’s current situation, and its predictions for a post-Covid future, by completing a short survey

It’s been two months since a UK customer was able to sit at the bar, order, and crucially pay for, a drink. After an initial period of lock-down panic, various business relief schemes have been launched by the government, and industry charities and organisations have rallied to support the hospitality industry. Unfortunately this hasn’t been enough for some venues who have had to close for good, and their staff have been left without income. For many more the coming weeks and months will be vital as the bank balance continues to only go in one direction. Anyone who makes a living from the bar industry is in limbo, likely anxious about the future, and wondering what comes next.

At such a time, it can be both useful and somewhat comforting to know what your peers are going through, how they are dealing with it, and perhaps most importantly, how they are planning for the future. To that end, we have created two short surveys, one for employees and one for employers, that contain questions about life and work under lockdown, and what the next few months might hold.

If enough people complete these surveys, we will be able to publish a summary of the UK bar industry’s current state, and its opinions about life after the Covid-19 lockdown is lifted. The resulting answers will also help BarLifeUK focus on creating content that is best able to inform and support the bar industry.

We thank you in advance for your time, and hope you will get involved in the project by completing the survey.
