One of the most pleasing things about the bar industry is that its efforts to support charities are usually very enjoyable.
St. Germain’s event at the Zetter Townhouse this Friday looks to be on exception.
Using Bastille Day as a flimsy excuse for good food, drink and frolicking in the sun, a boules tournament will be accompanied by French barbecue, cocktails, live music, and no doubt, a fair amount of chat.
The event kicks off at 12:00pm on Friday July 12th at Zetter, with all profits going to Action Against Hunger, a very worthy cause.

For those of you unaware of Bastille Day, and what it represents, Madame St. Germain herself (Camille Vidal) explains:
“In France, it is formally called La Fête Nationale and commonly Le quatorze juillet. It’s the National French Day and it commemorates the storming of the Bastille, which took place on 14 July 1789 and marked the beginning of the French Revolution.
The Bastille was a prison and a symbol of the absolute and arbitrary power of Louis the 16th’s Ancient Regime. By capturing this symbol, the people signalled that the king’s power was no longer absolute.
It was the symbol of liberty and the fight against oppression for all French citizens.
Like the Tricolore flag, it symbolized the fundamental Republic’s ideals: Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity.”
