Lovers of all things bitter and Italian will be pleased to learn that New York’s Dante bar will be in residence at Mayfair’s Quaglino’s from the end of next week.

For those not familiar with Dante, the bar began life in 1915 as an espresso cafe and is a registered New York City landmark. It was taken over by Aussie Naren Young in 2015, and has subsequently become an NYC cocktail institution. Dante currently sits at number 16 in the World’s Best Bars list, should you put any stock in lists designed purely to give sponsors something to throw money at.

Dante’s bartenders will be serving a selection of drinks from their ‘The Negroni Sessions’ and ‘The Martini Hour’ menus.

Highlights include:

The Chocolate Negroni (Fords, Campari, Cinzano 1757 Rosso, crème de cacao, chocolate bitters, Valrhona)
The Unlikely Negroni (Cabeza, Campari, Cinzano 1757 Rosso, banana, coconut, pineapple shrub, thai chili, sesame oil).
Dante Martini (Fords, Cinzano 1757 Dry, saline, verjus, toasted fennel tincture, lemon bitters, pickled stuff, absinthe mist)

BarLifeUK attended the Dante pop-up at Ham Yard earlier in the Summer, and can report that the drinks were outstanding. An Autumnal evening trip to Quaglino’s sounds just the ticket…
