Bristol’s Milk Thistle Seeking General Manager

Milk Thistle is a bit of an institution in Bristol, hidden in one of the finest historic buildings in the old city.

So, now this multi floored damn fine watering hole are looking for a new general manager. With future projects planned there are opportunities for progression within the group in and outside Bristol. 

Here’s what they’re after:

Following success of Hyde & co, The Milk Thistle opened in 2012. The venue has been recognised by various national awards and more importantly a loyal local following. The multi-floored venue is open 6 days a week and hosts a variety of events alongside it’s bread and butter as a damn fine watering hole. It is an integral part of the Hyde & co Leisure group.

As General Manager, the applicant should oversee all elements of the venue in conjunction with the assistant manager and senior bartender. 

Alongside supervising the day-to-day running of the venue the applicant must be able to utilise the entire space and explore additional revenue streams. Staff education and development is key to continuing and improving upon the success of the bar. 

The ideal candidate would have experience in hospitality management, preferrably over a multi-level venue. Creative in driving different forms of business alongside the evening cocktail bar The Milk Thistle is known for. This would be working closely with the Events & Marketing manager.

Excellent in delegating tasks and leading a team in a supervisory role. Be able to work in conjunction with the beverage manager to foster an atmosphere of progression and learning in the team.

The Hyde & co Leisure group as a whole prides itself on each venue having an independent approach. Each offering dependent on the venue and the team behind it. Within the teams creativity is welcomed and encouraged. The ethos being – everyone has a voice.
