Michter’s: US*1 Barrel Strength Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey will be available from Speciality Brands later this year
Michter’s – a brand familiar to fans of the show ‘Billions’ because its protagonist Bobby Axelrod drinks it in every other scene – is bringing its limited edition US*1 Barrel Strength Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey to the UK.
The Barrel Strength Rye, which was last available outside of Kentucky in 2019, is a single barrel whiskey chosen by Michter’s Master Distiller Dan McKee, Michter’s Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson, and Michter’s senior production team. Only barrels that have reached peak maturity are selected, and the resulting liquid has a median ABV of 55.1%. The 2021 edition is said to present notes of “butterscotch, cinnamon, cherries, toasted vanilla, caramel and a warm spice finish.” Sounds delicious.
Michter’s President Joseph J. Magliocco commented: “Our team has been turning out some wonderful Kentucky style ryes over the years, and this 2021 release continues that trend.” McKee observed, “I was really happy when we tasted these barrels. This release has so much of what I look for in a rye.”
