Every year the final of the Meister Hunter competition marks the end of competition season and the start of the silly season, the last chance for us to enjoy and celebrate our industry before Greg from accounts makes us question the purpose of life. It is a chance to get together celebrate, support and have fun courtesy of Jägermeister and you are all invited.

We say battle but that is actually unfair when it comes to the Jägermeister competition. For those unaware the final takes place over two days with a series of seminars and masterclasses leading to challenges that culminate in the final presentation. There is no ‘make the drink from your heat and hope it’s the best one’ here.

This format brings the finalists together rather than making them foes. Friendships and WhatsApp groups are formed, which we know are still very active even from many years ago. There is genuine support and hope that everyone does well….. probably not too well though. Friends are great and all but the top prize of £3K is even sweeter. The one thing we do know, having judged this competition every year since in creation by Mr Meister Hunter Florian Beuren, is that the final starts with a complete clean sheet and any of the talented folk in the fight can take out the prize.

Which leads us nicely to announcing this years fearless finalists from a series of heats earlier in the year:

  • Adam Taylor – Project Halcyon, Manchester
  • Eve Morley – The Raven, Bristol
  • Julia Atrak – Hucks, Dublin
  • Laurie Howells – Alma Bar, London
  • Lina Otremba – Milk, Reading
  • Nikita Mazzoni – La Muse Gueule, Geneva
  • Sascha Montague – Bar&Tender, Glasgow

So come on down, there is the comp followed by a big ole party. It is one of our favourite nights of the year and a final chance to let your hair down before next Wednesday when Beverly in HR decides this is the year she is going to try and dance on a table after Bob from Logistics thought a round of flaming sambucas would be ‘hilarious’.

We will see you at The Amano Hotel (34-43 Russell Street, Covent Garden, London WC2B 5HA) on Tuesday 14th November from 6pm for fun and games.
