Conceived by Megs Miller, who will manage the venue, and Dre Masso, in collaboration with operators Eric Yu and Martin Malley, FAM is described as a ‘feel-good bar with a fuss-free approach’ that will pay homage to London’s bartending community, or family. Hence the name FAM.

The bar has been set up with commitment to community and resourceful practices in mind, and will use locally sourced and rescued ingredients wherever possible. Both food and drink menus will use ingredients from local producers, such as the Sir Duke cocktail, which contains London potato vodka and pastis made at the Bloomsbury Distillery. FAM’s food menu has been created by Tim Ross-Watson, and will comprise of bar snacks inspired by ‘nostalgic family favourite recipes’.

The interior of the venue takes a cosy, yet modern approach, catering for 50 covers inside, and 20 on an outside terrace. The bar is flanked by a wall selection of ‘good time vinyl’ that can be played by request, along with portraits of some of London’s prominent bartender, past and present.

In keeping with progressive bar practices and a sense of family, FAM’s staff members will be encouraged to become partners in the business without any financial investment.

Example cocktails (priced at £10.50):

Sir Duke: London vodka, kiwiberries, nettle cordial with splash of Bloomsbury pastis & house citrus
FAM Margarita: A blend of highland & lowland tequilas, house citrus & Devon flower honey
The Claymore: Blended whisky stirred down with English sparkling wine cordial
Live by the River: (no ABV) |Seedlip Grove 42, house citrus, a dash of sherry vinegar topped with soda
