Liverpool Bar Community Raising Funds for Japan

To say the people of Japan are having a tough time of it is something of an understatement.

Unless you have been working back-to-back doubles for the last few weeks, you can’t fail to have seen and been moved by TV footage of the huge Tsunami that has killed so many people and made so many more homeless in Japan.

Add to that a bunch of nuclear reactors on the verge of melting down, and many Japanese people currently find themselves in dire circumstances.

This situation has moved Liverpool’s Aloha bar to team up with Shelterbox.org and hold a fundraiser on the 31st of March. Shelterbox provide kits containing food, blankets, shelter and medical supplies that can be quickly dropped into a disaster zone, often making a life-saving difference to those on the ground.

Being an Aloha event, ‘Japantease’ is as much about having a good time as raising money, and so the burlesque charms of Cerise Derriere and Phoenix Snow will be on show (hence the ‘tease’ part of the event’s name), and the tiki drinks will be free-flowing.

Entry to the event will cost you a minimum donation of £3 to Shelterbox.org (although if you can spare a few bob more, then please give generously), and raffle prizes are being donated every day, so you could well walk out with some booty.

Visit Aloha’s Facebook page for more details on the event, and any bars (in Liverpool or otherwise) wishing to co-ordinate similar events can contact Aloha skipper, Danny Murphy, by clicking here.
