Hayman’s Gin The True Taste Competition 2019 Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions

Hayman’s Gin is proud to present The True Taste competition (the “competition”) in 2019 to Bartenders (the “competitor”) working within the United Kingdom.

ENTERING THE COMPETITION

  1. Only competitors who work with a Bar, Restaurant, Hotel or Café within the United Kingdom are eligible to enter
  2. Competitors must be of legal drinking age in the UK at the time of entry
  3. Competitors must enter via the portal on www.barlifeuk.com
  4. Entries open on 1st April 2019 and close on 28th April 2019. Any late entries accepted at Hayman’s discretion

COCKTAIL SUBMISSIONS

  1. A minimum of 35mls Hayman’s London Dry gin, Old Tom gin or Sloe gin must be used and this should be the lead ingredient in your submission
  2. Cocktail must be an original creation and contain a MAXIMUM of SIX ingredients
  3. Homemade ingredients are permitted (syrups, tinctures, foams, infusions etc.) but a full methodology must be submitted along with cocktail recipe
  4. The winners will be notified after the submission deadline

REGIONAL FINALS

  1. Regional finals are dependent on the number of entries and will be held at Hayman’s discretion
  2. One winner from each regional final will be put through to the UK Final
  3. There will be one wildcard winner to be decided by the judging panel
  4. The date of regional finals will be held, but are subject to change at Hayman’s discretion:
  • 7th May – London (1)
  • 13th May – Bristol
  • 14th May – London (2)
  • 20th May – Manchester
  • 21st May – Sheffield
  • 28th May – Edinburgh
  1. Details of the regional finals and the brief will be sent out one week before the final takes place
  2. Should the competitor not be able to attend their regional final on that day then their entry will be void and another competitor will take their place
  3. Hayman’s cannot be responsible for costs incurred traveling to or from regional finals

NATIONAL FINAL

  1. The national final will be held at the Hayman’s Distillery in Balham, London
  2. There will be 7 finalists – 6 Regional winners and 1 wildcard (Chosen at Hayman’s discretion if required)
  3. Competitors will be given the brief for the final a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the date of the final
  4. Hayman’s will cover the travel and accommodation (to be decided by Hayman’s) costs of bartenders coming from outside of London
    1. Only bartenders who live outside of London are eligible for this support
  5. The winner of the competition will be named on the evening of the final

THE PRIZE

  1. The Prize is a 5 day distilling apprenticeship at the Hayman’s Distillery in Balham, London. In is not transferable for any monetary value or a different prize
  2. The prize is to be spread over 1 day a week for 3 consecutive weeks and then 2 consecutive days for the final two days
    1. This may be extended if further work is required on the final product.
  3. Should the winner have to come from outside of London Hayman’s will support travel and accommodation not exceeding a value of £1000 in total for the five days
  4. The winner will make a Limited Edition Hayman’s Gin which will bear their name on the label as a co-creator
  5. The winners Limited Edition Gin must adhere to the profile of a True English Gin – it must be balanced and not have an overly dominant lead botanical
  6. The winning bartender must stock Hayman’s Gin on their bar for a minimum of 12 months post competition
