The Hackney Winter Night Shelter (HWNS) is a charity that provides hot food and a safe place to sleep for homeless people in Hackney. It is open seven days a week for six months of the year, and relies on charitable donations to operate.

This year, independent beer company, The Five Points Brewing Company, have partnered with HWNS to hold a charity fundraising and clothing donation event in an effort to help homeless people during the coldest months.

At the event, which takes place at The Pembury Tavern on December 11th, every person who donates an unwanted item of clothing will receive a free pint of Five Points craft beer. Donations of coats, jumpers, t-shirts, and warm socks will be particularly welcome.

In addition, raffle tickets will be sold, with prizes ranging from £100 bar tab, to free pizza and beer. Pizza will also be served, with 50p from each sale going to the HWNS charity.

During the evening there will also be a talk from a member of the Hackney Winter Night Shelter, an opportunity to find out more about what this brilliant charity does.

Ed Mason, Co-Founder and Managing Director of The Five Points Brewing Company, says of the event: “We are incredibly grateful for the support of our local community and would love for everyone to come along to the event; enjoy some great beer, some delicious pizza, and join us in supporting this brilliant charity.”

For those unable to the event, Five Points will continue to collect clothes until Friday 13th December.
