Don Julio 1942 Launches in the UK

A new ultra-premium tequila has arrived in the UK in the form of Don Julio 1942.

1942 was an important year in the history of Don Julio Tequila being the year that the late founder and tequila icon Don Julio Gonzalez began his tequila making journey at just 17 years old. He spent the next 40 years in the Los Altos region in the Highlands of Jalisco, Mexico at his La Primavera Distillery learning his trade and improving the quality of his tequilas.

Don Julio 1942 was created to honour the 60th anniversary of Don Julio’s tequila making endeavours. 1942 is aged for a minimum of two and a half years in American white oak barrels using blue agave that have been hand selected by La Primavera’s jimadors.

To add to the special nature of this tequila it is made with the distillate in Pot Still 6 which only produces three barrels per cycle. The bottle is, as you’d expect, rather fancy as well, designed around the agave leaf.

“Tequila Don Julio 1942 has become one of our most talked about and fastest growing tequilas, and we are looking forward to sharing it with our European consumers,” said Master Distiller Enrique de Colsa. “As the current Master Distiller, I am honoured to carry on the meticulous standards set into place by Don Julio González now more than 70 years ago, so that they can experience the same complex, exotic and smooth flavours found in Don Julio 1942 that consumers have been accustomed to enjoying.”

Don Julio 1942 has previously only been available in the US and Mexico but now it has made its way to the UK for you all to enjoy. To get your hands on it speak with your Diageo rep or find it through Coe Vintners.
