Boutique Bar Show + Tequila & Mezcal Fest: Tuesday 2nd October 2018; 11am to 5pm; Oxo Tower Wharf, London SE1 9PH
In a move that makes perfect sense, Boutique Bar Show (BBS) and Tequila & Mezcal Fest (T&MF) have joined forces for 2018. The two small-but-perfectly-formed events will take place at the Oxo Tower Wharf’s Bargehouse, making Tuesday 2nd October a day worth taking off for bartenders.
As you would expect there will be plenty of liquor to sample, with over 200 brands and their associated ambassadors and reps available for tasting and geek-out chat (as far as we are aware, you may only taste the booze, not the reps).
The Bargehouse will also hold two seminar stages. The Boutique Bar Show stage will be hosted by the newly-revamped UK Bartenders’ Guild (UKBG), with talks covering subjects such as coffee cocktail culture, low and no ABV cocktails, and, presumably, the correct operation of arm garters and tight white shirts.
The Tequila & Mezcal Fest stage session programme covers subjects as diverse as the Mexican Appellation of Origin, Artisanal and Ancestral Mezcal, and the Altos Tahona Society competition.
Four London bars (venues to be announced) will be on hand to wet your whistle, and always-tasty Café Pacifico food will be available throughout the day to stop you falling over. Remember – eating isn’t cheating.
Tickets are free for members of the trade, but you must register in advance. You can do so via the Boutique Bar Show or Tequila & Mezcal Fest Eventbrite pages:
Sounds like a nice day out. And as the new BBS+F&MF hybrid sits within London Cocktail Week, there are bound to be other events within staggering distance once you’ve done the rounds at the Bargehouse.
