BarLifeUK news - Boutique Bar Show and Tequila Mezcal Fest 2018 Seminar TimetableThis year, Boutique Bar Show and Tequila & Mezcal Fest have joined forces, as part of London Cocktail Week. The two shows take place under the same roof, on Tuesday 2nd October.

In addition to all the sampling and geek-out opportunities you would expect, education seminars will be running throughout the day on the main stage, in association with the United Kingdom Bartenders Guild (UKBG).

12.00 – 12.45: Building a great bar team
Join Declan McGurk (Bar Manager – American Bar at The Savoy), Mia Johansson (Founder – SWIFT) and Peter Dorelli on building and developing a professional bar team that strive to excel in all aspects of the business.

12.45 – 13.30: The global challenge of Tequila (TMF)
Presented by Fernando Cano from the Tequila Regulatory Council (TRC) this seminar will look at the global challenges for the category of tequila and opportunities within the European market.

13.30 – 14.15: The secret of hotel bars
Join Rémy Savage of The Artesian Bar at The Langham for a discussion on how London hotel bars became some of the most awarded venues around the world covering drinks programs, service and personalities.

14.15 – 15.00: CRT Distinctivo Ceremony
The TRC launched the Distinctivo T project in 2015, which seeks to educate the industry on Tequila’s history, regulations, and production. Sixty bartenders, brand ambassadors, and sales representative will receive their award having completed the exam in London this month.

15.00 – 15.45: Low ABV and Aperitivo
Hosted by Rudi Carraro & Luca Missaglia discover how low-abv & non-alcoholic drinks became a 21st-century global trend. A talk that reveals the truth about vermouth, amaro, rosolio and aperitivi, from the classic Milano Torino to the modern Spritz.

15.45 – 16.30: Altos Tahona Society – Sustainable Best Practices
This year the Altos Tahona Society is not about putting liquid in a glass. The Altos Tahona Society Collective Spirit Competition challenged bartenders to design and enact an initiative, event or project based out of their bar, to increase sustainable practices, help the local community and improve the well being of their fellow bar staff. 16.30 – 17.00: The Future of Drinks
As cannabidiol becomes increasingly popular it’s time to look at the future of drinks and the opportunities presented by other plant-based substances. How will drinks of the future make you feel? Fluid Movement and Beyond Alcohol discuss the science and drinks of the future.
