BBFB International Women’s Day cocktails available 4-11th March 2019, London
The theme for Internation Women’s Day in 2019 is #balanceforbetter, which relates to the change we need to make to society so that work and life opportunities are the same for everyone, regardless of gender.
While this is of course true for the bar industry, the term ‘balance’ has an obvious, extra significance to people who work with flavour, so it is no surprise that Bacardi Brown Forman Brands (BBFB) have chosen to commission a set of bespoke cocktails in support and celebration of International Women’s Day.
The six ‘Perfectly Balanced’ cocktails have been created by six female bartenders in collaboration with six of BBFB’s female ambassadors, and will be served in a range of London venues from 4-11th March at the following bars:
- Call Me If You Need To Talk – Artesian
- Rosie Rivington – Blacklock
- Sesame Street – FAM
- Emilie Jolie – Happiness Forgets
- Alexandria – London Cocktail Club (Goodge Street)
- Honey, Honey – Satan’s Whiskers
To provide an example of the thinking behind these drinks, the Emilie Jolie cocktail being served at Happiness Forgets is inspired by two of its creator Margaux Picard’s idols – her older sister, Emilie, and suffragette icon Emmeline Pankhurst. The drink is made with Woodford Reserve Distiller’s Select Whiskey, mezcal, Cherry Heering, absinthe, rose water and orange zest.
The Alexandria on offer at London Cocktail Club is inspired by activist and congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and created by Patrón Tequila Ambassador, Karine Tillard and bartender Cressida Lawlor. The drink blends pimento, lilt and fresh lime with prosecco to create an effervescent drink with fresh and spicy notes.
