Bacardi Donate $1M USD to Hurricane Dorian Relief Effort

Bacardi Limited and the Bacardí family donate $1 Million in cash and other assistance to hurricane Dorian relief and recovery effort

Bacardi have pledged $1,000,000 in cash and other assistance towards the urgent task of helping people impacted by hurricane Dorian. The donation has been made in collaboration with non-profit organisations and the Bahamian government to make sure the cash provides immediate assistance to local relief agencies as they support islands and communities in dire need of help.

Bacardi has a longstanding relationship with The Bahamas, having moved its operations to the region in the 1960s following revolutionary turmoil in Cuba. Although the brand no longer has facilities in the region, Facundo L. Bacardi, Chairman of family-owned Bacardi Limited, says of the contribution:  “We have never forgotten the incredible kindness of the Bahamian people and the important role they played in the history of our company.  We hope in a small way to contribute to the rebuilding of this great country in the face of this tragedy just as The Bahamas helped Bacardi rebuild nearly 60 years ago.”

Bacardi is no stranger to natural disasters, following the devastation of the brand’s home island of Puerto Rico by hurricane Maria in 2017. Following Maria and hurricane Irma, along with earthquakes in Mexico, Bacardi has committed a total of $3 Million to relief efforts in Puerto Rico, Florida, the Caribbean, Mexico, and The Bahamas in recent years. The brand has has also made donations to aid organizations supporting relief efforts in Southeast Asia, China, Australia, Italy, Haiti, Cuba, Brazil, Chile, and the United States.

Donations cam be made to the hurricane Dorian relief effort on the Bahamas Disaster Relief website.
