Old Forester joins Bacardi Brown-Forman

Bacardi Brown-Forman have got another whiskey under their boozy belt as Old Forester Kentucky Bourbon becomes part of the family from April 1st.

Nick Gillett, Managing Director of Mangrove, who have been distributing the brand up until now said “Old Forester has been a joy to work on. With the quality of the liquid and the richness of its heritage its long term success was always assured. As leaders in the North American Whiskey category it makes sense for Bacardi Brown-Forman to take Old Forester to the next level at this time as part of their wider approach. We look forward to working with them on some future exciting products.”

Old Forester was America’s first bottled Bourbon, first marketed back in 1870 by the former pharmaceutical salesman turned bourbon-merchant George Garvin Brown, the founder of the Brown-Forman Corporation. So there is no denying it’s a pretty perfect move. Especially with the sterling American Whiskies portfolio they have.

Amanda Almond, Managing Director for Bacardi Brown-Forman Brands added “Mangrove was instrumental in establishing Old Forester in the UK and demonstrating that there is real demand for this Super Premium bourbon. We would like to thank them for their work. Old Forester will now take its place within our award winning portfolio of American Whiskies as we continue to lead and grow the category with our customers.

BarLifeUK have been luckily enough to go to Kentucky with Old Forester as well as judge the recent repeal day competition. The liquid speaks for itself, it’s DAMN good, and we can’t wait to see / drink where BBF take it next!
