Win €50,000 To Open Your Own Pop-Up Bar With The Torres Zero Challenge

In Competition Entries, Competitions, Featured

Torres Brandy have launched a competition to reinforce their commitment to the environment and the prize is phenomenal.

Launched in 2008, the Torres & Earth program saw the brand reduce their carbon emissions by over a quarter in the 10 years up to 2018. They are not stopping there with their commitment to reduce this by 30% by 2020, 55% by 2030 and 80% by 2045. Now they are challenging bartenders to follow in their footsteps.

They are calling on bartenders to discover the most sustainable side of mixology. With heats happening across the globe, each country winner will head to Reykjavik for the Global final with the overall winner getting their own Pop-Up Bar sponsored by Torres Brandy Zero Challenge in their country of origin, the maximum budget for this project is 50,000 Euros.

This competition is not only original in its concept but also in what they want from you as far as the entry process goes. They are asking you to come up with a 100% sustainable bar concept, the bar that you will be making a reality if you win the global final. They also want you to come up with an Ecocktail recipe using Torres Brandy.

To present your idea they require you to produce a 30 second video to explain your concept and cocktail and a 500 word written description. This video will be uploaded (alongside some more details on yourself) to the entry website here.

A panel of judges will go through all of the entries and pick 4 UK finalists. Those 4 will present their bar concept and Ecocktail at the UK Final in the summer. The winner will be heading to Reykjavik for a 3 day trip of once-in-a-lifetime activities in one of the most sustainable cities in the world.

If BarLifeUK’s experiences of Reykjavik are anything to go by then this will be a grand prize on its own. However, if you do win the opportunity to create your own Pop-Up bar, and the budget to make it a reality, it could be a very large step to opening your own site.

This is one of the most exciting prizes we have seen in a long time so no doubt this will be a hugely popular competition. Get thinking, get planning and we can’t wait to see what you all come up with.

Deadline for entries is 15th April.
