Funkin Innovation is a competition that gets you on that first rung to becoming a Brand Ambassador, as well as getting you £500 in your pocket.
In the past two years the Funkin Innovation Competition has seen some of the countries best bartenders battling it out in the final, with Dan Redman-Hubley (now Patron Tequila Brand Ambassador) emerging victorious in 2014 and Massimo Zitti taking the crown last year.
Massimo will be handing over his title, but is in no doubt that whoever takes it on will have an amazing year ahead of them:
“I couldn’t recommend the role more. I’ve had some wonderful experiences, including working with MasterChef: The Professionals winner Steven Edwards at the Innovation Forum, alongside some of the most forward-thinking people in the business. This is a great opportunity for someone to influence future trends, whilst also learning from a leading partner in the cocktail industry.”
The prize is unlike any other currently in competition land with the winner working on exciting projects with the Funkin team, collaborating in product development to create new serves and representing the company at shows and events. It is a great opportunity to not only learn the art of a Brand Ambassador but also to make a real mark on products the industry will be using. Ohh and of course £500 for some new shoes.
To be in with a chance of winning you will need to, unsurprisingly, get innovative.
Funkin are looking for entrants to propose an inventive new on-trade Funkin product, something not in their range which you see as filling a gap in the market and/or getting ahead of the next big trends. You will also be asked to come up with an original cocktail using at least one of the Funkin Pro products.
Those with the most inventive ideas and serves will be invited to compete for the top prize at a final in London later this year. BarLifeUK will of course be on hand to judge the final so make sure the drinks are tasty.
Funkin do love their innovation as proved at their recent Innovation Forum. Where bartenders collected to talk about the latest trends and issues in the industry all whilst enjoying Massimo’s latest drinks creations using some of Funkin’s new flavours: Funkin Pro Jalapeño syrup, Funkin Pro Smoked Syrup and Funkin Pro Guava Purée. You can read more about the Forum here.
We will leave a final word to Funkin Managing Director, Andrew King, who knows better than anyone else what you will need to aim for to win the competition:
“Creativity and innovation are at the heart of everything we do and produce and we have high expectations for our next Innovation Champion. We want passion, determination and someone who is able to bring flair to their craft.”
Enter using the form below and make sure you get them in before the entry deadline at midnight on September 2nd.
