Tanqueray Malacca is back with a limited release of 100,000 bottles worldwide exclusively for the on-trade.
Whilst the bar pumped out a selection of cocktails specifically created for the launch of Tanqueray Malacca by bartenders from across the globe, Tom was locked away in a room doing tastings for the lucky chosen few.
Originally sold briefly in the US in the early 2000’s it has been brought back due to demand from bartenders themselves. It’s slightly spiced recipe is sure to produce some great cocktails once bartenders get their hands on it and Tanqueray Global Brand Ambassador and all round gent Angus Winchester is also looking forward to sampling them:
‘Tanqueray Malacca was, for many years, a unicorn in the world of Gin and it’s deeply satisfying to see it brought back – even for a limited time. Its unique botanical profile, softer tastes and lower proof make it a valuable addition to any decent bar. I think it makes a great Pegu and Tom Collins and I can’t wait to see what this generation of mixologists do with it.’
Tanqueray Malacca was inspired by a recipe for a spiced liqueur developed in 1839 and recorded in Charles Tanqueray’s journals. Tom Nichol is now the custodian for the gin and the only person privy to the recipe.
This is a very limited edition run folks so if you want to get your hand on a bottle we suggest cosying up to your favourite Diageo rep, maybe a box of chocolates for valentine’s day would help?
It seems only right to leave the last word on this new product to the man behind it, the legendary Tom Nichol….
‘Since announcing the return of Tanqueray Malacca we’ve witnessed real excitement among bartenders who are keen to get their hands on this unique limited edition gin. I’ve been asked many times over the years for this gin to be brought back by Tanqueray and I’m pleased to now be making that happen.’
