America’s Trader Tiki has launched a range of Exotic Syrups for ‘Topical Mixology’ and with a little bit of on-line ordering they can be adorning your back bar very soon.
Our shipment hasn’t yet arrived but we are told by are friends in the know on the other side of the pond that they are just the thing to put some magic in your Mai Tai’s and zip in your Zombie. There are currently 4 flavours for you to chose from – Orgeat, Vanilla Syrup, Cinnamon Syrup and Don’s Mix for those Zombie moments. In actual fact Don’s Mix is tiki legend Jeff ‘Beachbum’ Berry’s recipe and comes with his stamp of approval.
All of the products have a shelf life of 30 days once opened if refrigerated and 6 months before opening. The website also has plenty of tiki inspired cocktail recipes using the syrups which we are looking forward to trying out soon.

In the meantime whilst we are in the mood here is their Zombie recipe which is adapted by Beachbum Berry from Don The Beachcomber’s 1934 original.
- 3/4 oz (20mls) Fresh Lime Juice
- 1 1/2 oz (45mls) Trader Tiki’s Don’s Mix
- 1 oz (30mls) Dark Jamaican Rum
- 1/2 oz (15mls) 151-proof Puerto Rican Rum
Shake well with ice cubes. Pour unstrained into a tall glass, if necessary adding more ice to fill.
Garnish with a mint sprig.
