Brown-Forman American Whiskey Ambassador Tom Vernon

With some of the world’s most renowned American whiskey brands in its portfolio, including Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel, Gentleman Jack and Woodford Reserve, Brown-Forman has announced the appointment of a dedicated ambassador, Tom Vernon to help champion American Whiskey to the trade and consumers.

Many BarLifeUK readers will know Tom Vernon from his days as GM at Manchester’s Socio Rehab, or the Portobello Star in Notting Hill.

Tom says of his new role:

I’m thrilled to have been appointed as American Whiskey Ambassador. I have always had an interest in American Whiskeys and to be working with brands like Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel, Gentleman Jack and Woodford Reserve is a real dream for me.

We will be hosting a Q&A on American whiskey with Tom, and would like you to send in your questions to put to him.

Why should you do this?

Well, for starters you will be provided with the answer to your question, which will enrich your bartending knowledge and could well win you a cocktail comp one day.

Secondly, the best questions (i.e. the most challenging) will win a twin pack from one of only 155 cases available of the latest Woodford Reserve twin pack, including Woodford Reserve New Cask Rye and Woodford Reserve Aged Cask Rye.

Woodford Reserve New Cask Rye and Woodford Reserve Aged Cask Rye have been created to reflect the recent renaissance that rye whiskey has been enjoying.

Each rye whiskey uses the same recipe and is made from a 100% rye mash, with one matured in fresh, charred oak and the other in a used barrel. The New Cask Rye is golden brown, with cinnamon and delicate mint spice on the nose. The Aged Cask Rye is a light straw, with a nose of grassy rye grain with hints of citrus, vanilla and spice. They are both triple distilled in copper pots and are bottled at 46.2% ABV.

To get involved with the American Whiskey Q&A, submit a question for Tom Vernon to answer by filling in the form below, and clicking the ‘submit’ button.

This promotion is open to UK-based bar professionals over the age of 18 only.

Woodford Reserve say:

Inspired by two centuries of bourbon discovery and innovation, Woodford Reserve has fast become the drink of choice for whiskey connoisseurs and is ideal for those seeking a premium American whiskey.

Hand crafted in small batches, Woodford Reserve has a distinct taste and crisp, clean finish – ideally served on the rocks or mixed in cocktails. The acclaimed Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection is a series of whiskeys released periodically at the Master Distiller’s discretion.

The collection is limited in quantity and bottled in a package inspired by the copper pot stills of The Woodford Reserve distillery. It is this dedication in innovation that saw The Woodford Reserve Distillery named as “Whisky Innovator of the Year” at the 2011 Whisky Icon Awards.
