Entry deadline for this legendary vodka competition: June 7th
The 42Below Cocktail World Cup is the creator of myths and legends.
Its finals week in Queenstown is the trip that everybody wants to make, and the comp is the one that everybody wants to win.
Indeed, BarLifeUK would go as far as to say competing in the 42Below Cocktail World Cup is something of a right of passage for the modern competition-entering bartender: If you want to make your mark, you have to enter it, period.
This year the 42Below Cocktail World Cup comes in the guise of a Victorian scientist, replete with bubbling test tubes and a mad glint in its eyes. The theme is ‘laboratory’ and you can expect secrets, late night experimental sessions and general Professor Moriaty madness to ensue.
The format is largely unchanged from previous years. There will be regional heats that culminate in a UK final to select the first Team UK.
The second Team UK, the wildcards, will be selected for their efforts to spread the 42Below gospel in their bar, town and across the UK using social media, word of mouth and any other means the team can think of.
If you are a previous winner, you can put yourself into the ring for a Startender team that will also be competing in New Zealand. This motley crew will be selected from past winners from all over the globe, and will definitely have something to prove to the new blood teams.
Regional heats will take place between 25th June – 9th July in the following areas (dates and venues TBA):
- London West
- London East
- The South
- Wales and The West
- The North East
- The North West
Both UK teams will be joining 5 other international teams in Queenstown for the week-long final.
Competition rules and regs can be found on the 42Below Cocktail World Cup website.
