On the train to Manchester, we were fresh faced and full of enthusiasm. We gambolled into Northern sunshine like Spring lambs.

On the train back from Manchester, we felt like we had been slaughtered, vacuum packed and put up for sale on a Lidl ‘about to pass its sell-by date’ shelf…

There are a number of people responsible for this, and a number of bars. And a large number of drinks (all exceptionally well made and served with warmth, enthusiasm and typical Manchester hospitality)… a full report will follow.

However we must offer special thanks to Lyndon Higginson at Keko Moku (Kinky Monkey to us as it’s easier to say after 3 daiquiris) and the inimitable Tom Sneesby of Black Dog Ballroom fame for showing us a great time, breaking us in two for the second day of Northern Restaurant and Bar, and hustling our entire travel end entertainment budget over the pool table. We’ll be back for rum club, so don’t go spending that money…
